The inspiration for the Friends group came from a number of those involved with Attend’s Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) project, which offers individuals with an acquired brain injury support to achieve their goals.
Many ABI clients first experience of Attend comes from a referral to our programme to help people into work.
For some that hasn’t proved to be the right option, but during its first year of operation, we were pleased to support 28 people into work, volunteering or training opportunities.
Today, Attend has broadened our work to include a large supported volunteering programme.
However, many of the ABI family would like just a bit more: a place to catch with people they have met through the programmes, the chance to learn some skills and perhaps just have fun. FAABI has been born as a response to this.
